This morning as I was settling down all comfortable and cozy with my Bible and books and about to take my first sip of tea, I looked out French door windows towards the sky, “toasted” the Lord and said, “Someday we will be doing this together in person!”
Then I pictured it in my mind and thought about it. Will we actually be eating and drinking things on “the other side” with God? Then, gathering my understanding of scripture together, I thought, oh, yes, we will, in some beautiful place, some delightful cottage “somewhere!” Then in another delightful place “somewhere,” and then in ANOTHER delightful place “somewhere!”
There is much we know a lot about that is revealed in the Bible, and then there is much the Lord loves keeping for exciting surprises, so we aren’t given great detail about many things, as that would simply spoil the surprise! We know - because of what He has told us in the verse below - that our imaginations can take us only just so far.
“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’” I Corinthians 2:9
I then went on in my reading/praying/thinking/meditating/musing, but I also had to stop to use email briefly, and – wouldn’t you know? – this is the verse of the day in my Inbox from YouVersion!
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him,
and he with Me.” - Revelation 3:20
And I felt Him saying this is for NOW. Right now. In this, my delightful “city cottage” in downtown Keene. While I’m still here on the fallen earth. He is here right now “having tea” with me!
Think of it! And He is doing the same with all of you who know Him and love Him and love spending alone time with Him.
God, Who in all His holy brilliance was unapproachable by mortal man, devised a brilliant plan to make us His friends, because He wanted this intimate relationship with each of us.* I can only wonder why, but the big and only answer is HIS LOVE FOR US.
So He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to bear the penalty of our sin and bring us into His presence without fear forever.
